Marrakech, Morocco - April 2026

Flew from Madrid on Iberia to Marrakech. Iberia is a OneWorld airline so I have boarding and lounge status, even though I'm flying economy...

We are staying at Riad Lallabaya and they had arranged a transfer. We got through passport control quickly and found our driver. It was about a 30 minute drive to our Riad...

It's really nice...

It has a nice rooftop where we had breakfast every morning...

We headed out for a walk and to find some lunch. Got to the entrance to the main square...

There's lots of colour around...

The Riad manager had suggested a few places so we found a rooftop bar/restaurant called Kabana...

Lunch was great and then we headed back to the Riad. We have to walk past this mosque...

We had a rest, then headed out to the main square...

The first night we found a Lebanese restaurant that had been recommended. This was the starter...

The next morning we had breakfast in the Riad. It was great...

Then we headed out with no particular plan...

We thought we'd take a look at the Palais Bahia. We paid to get in but I don't feel it was worth it...

We went to a famous coffee place but the queue was out the door so we kept going. We know that if a place is on TripAdvisor or Instagram, it will be busy!

We walked into this place and found coffee...

We then walked around the Koutoubia Mosque which is a bit of a landmark. Non-muslims cannot enter....

After that we walked around the markets which you can easily get lost in...

We then had a late lunch at El Fenn, which had also been recommended...

Then we went back to the Riad for a rest.

That night we had dinner overlooking the main square...

The mince beef pastry things were nice but the lamb tagine was a bit disappointing..

After dinner we went to another bar that had been recommended, at a 5 star hotel close to our Riad. It's a bit challenging to find alcohol here...

We headed out to dinner another night. We are finding our way through the Medina. We found a Riad nearby with a nice rooftop bar...

And had a pre-dinner snack...

We then found a place for dinner where we sat on the terrace...

The next day I went for a hammam and had a massage. The stairs up to the massage room were a bit scary...

Afterwards I had a mint tea in this courtyard...

I then walked past what I think was the carpet market...

Then had a late lunch. It was lambshank tagine. It was just okay...

That night I caught an Uber to one of the bars that the Riad manager had recommended called Sbar. They didn't serve wine by the glass so I had to buy this bottle...

I had a snack...

I was the only one there, so I moved on to another bar close by called Canto Bar. But I got there just as it opened and there was nobody there either!

I then caught a car back to the Riad...

The next morning we got up early for our flight to Malaga.
