Caught a bus from Malaga to Granada and found the way to our AirBnb. We were early so we stopped for a coffee and walked the 40 minutes from the bus station. Entering the old city...
We can see Alhambra from our terrace too...
I am very much looking forward to seeing Alhambra Palace. It is a bucket list item for me so I'm looking forward to our tour tomorrow.
I went for a walk. It's a beautiful afternoon, about 20 degrees. Walked past Granada Cathedral which is huge...
I went inside for a look...
Then I started walking towards the river...
The path begins at this church which I can see from my balcony. I am really enjoying the vibe here...
Looking up to Alhambra where we will go tomorrow...
Went back and had some cheese and wine on the terrace. Then headed out to dinner. Had the prawn and mango salad as I wanted something light. It was huge...
On the second night, after Alhambra, we found a nearby tapas bar called Camela, where they give you a free tapas with each drink ordered...
We paid for croquettas. They are on every tapas menu and I find them a bit heavy...
Walking home past the cathedral...
I did a work call then headed to Sacromonte and Albaicin. I walked past a park and took another pic of Alhambra, then headed up a steep hill...
Back down at the river, I paid EUR8 to go into El Banuelo which was not worth it. It is considered the best preserved hammam from the Al-Andulus period. It is the oldest building in the city, dating from 11th to 12th century.
It was only three rooms and I was out in 5 minutes...
I then headed to a cafe for a rest. I love the lanes in the old European towns...
It's now about 2pm ie lunchtime so I thought we'd try a rooftop bar I'd read about called BHeaven. They didn't serve food so we had a tinto de verrano.
It's on the top floor of a hotel and this is the pool...
We then walked past here, still looking for lunch...
We found an Italian place and the food was great. Had a bottle of wine which cost less than my ravioli!
I headed up to Mirador de San Nicolas. Another great view of the Alhambra...
Next to it is this Mezquita Mayor de Granada...
One the way back down I came across a medieval gate which dates from the 11th century. It was the main entry to the Alcazaba Qadima, the original centre of Islamic Granada.
I walked back to town and stumbled across the mercado. Like the ones we saw in Malaga and Madrid, but not nearly as busy...
