Hong Kong - April 2019

It's Rugby 7s time. I was given 2 tickets for all 3 days...

Went back to my old favourite ramen place in Sheung Wan. Love the black ramen..

Callum came to visit...

And we went to Shenzhen one day. I really needed those shoes. Really !

Joined a new gym - Pure...

Went to a Rugby related function at the Hong Kong Yacht Club which was a bit tricky to get to, even though it's in Causeway Bay. This is the view looking back to Wan Chai...

Tried a new cafe for breakfast. In Staunton St next to the escalator...

Friday of the 7s was a Public Holiday - Ching Ming Festival. Went to the 7s on Friday evening. Australia were thrashed by NZ !

Sydney - March 2019

Quick trip home to see the family. Took the day flight on a Friday. Flew Premium Economy which was nice and I got some sleep !

Alex and Eliza picked me up. Great to see everyone.



Saturday hung around at home doing chores. Brunch at St Ives with Jacqui.

Sunday had brunch at Narrabeen.

Later, bought a bike for Callum and went to Freshwater and had a swim. Gorgeous day. Had dinner with the family at the Greengate restaurant which has gone up market and is quite expensive. A$37 for a sirloin !

Alex has a smoothie named after her at the local cafe !

Monday drove to Canberra with Eliza and visited my mother. Stayed over at the Hutchies.

Eliza drove the first 2 hours...

Stopped for lunch at our usual bakery in Goulburn...

Tuesday drove back and did some more chores. Family dinner at Terry Hills Tavern. Had fun singing in the car on the way home.

Wednesday caught the 6am train to the airport and headed back to HK.

Great trip !

Hong Kong - March 2019

When I moved to HK, the Observation Wheel was HKD100 (A$18). I never got round to doing it. Then it was taken over by another operator and is now HKD20 (A$3.62) ! So one night when the queue wasn't too long, I tried it. It was just okay. Better views from some rooftop bars !

Tried a new place in Gough Street (Sama)...

Used my potato press to make some pesto gnocchi...

Wearing my new tie which Alex gave me for Christmas...

I love how HK office buildings have so many restaurants. I don't know how they all survive.

Bought some lilies for the apartment...

Having a mould problem so invested in a dehumidifier. Seems to do the trick...

Bangkok - March 2019

Back to Bangkok for a partner conference that I have arranged.

Flew Friday morning. Wanted to get there and spec out the place. Got upgraded to Premium Economy at the gate. Staying at W Bangkok this time. Nice room...

Went to the pool and was served gelato...

Had some pad thai by the pool...

Part of the hotel was this old colonial building where we had drinks and then dinner in the courtyard...

Due to the Thailand elections, there was a 24 hour alcohol ban from 6pm on Saturday. It was very strictly enforced. Our solution was to rent the Presidential Suite and stock it with alcohol before 6pm. We couldn't have any hotel staff in the room while we were drinking which was fine.

Did a dinner cruise on the river. Lovely night...

We had conference on the Saturday and then cooking class team building on the Sunday...

We cooked in teams and were scored. Then we had a great lunch...

Bangkok - February 2019

I was invited to a global partner conference in Bangkok starting Sunday.

Thought I'd head over on Friday night and have a relaxing day on Saturday. Took a late flight after work on the Friday night. Arrived about 1 am and crashed.

I've been before so don't feel the need to see all the temples.

Staying at Banyan Tree which bizarrely is where I went last time in order to check out the Vertigo and Moon Bar.

Next day had some pool time...

Met colleagues for a drink at Vertigo in the hotel...

Tried another bar while waiting for dinner...

Next night had dinner at Vertigo Moon Bar. Amazing...

We ate a lot of Thai food...

More pool time after conference closed...

Went to dinner to Asiatique by the river. The food was only average...
