Bali - February 2019 - day 1

It's Chinese New Year and we get three Public Holidays. I didn't want to stay in HK - it's a bit boring when everything is shut, and I have to be in Singapore the following week, so decided to go to Bali on the way.

Had to go via Singapore on Jetstar. Got some air at the airport...

Landed and met my transfer to Grand Hyatt, Nusa Dua. Large room on top floor. It's a very big resort...

Eating in the hotel is expensive as they add 23% tax and service to everything. So I walked along the beach for about 20 minutes and found a local restaurant. Had banana and honey pancakes, and Bali coffee, all for IDR40,000 which is A$4 !

Found another local restaurant just outside the other entrance to the hotel. Had nasi goreng and a Bintang...

The beach at Melia is a bit nicer. It's the next beach around.

About 5pm I caught a Grab to Ku De Ta to watch the sunset. I went there last time I stayed in Seminyak. However it was a long trip due to traffic and Nusa Dua is far.

Pretty windy so not the nicest of days...

Headed back for a late dinner. All the local places are closed so I went to Melia for satay...

Whistler - January 2019 - Monday 28th to Friday 1 February

We have been so lucky with the weather...

I left on the Friday and it was snowing. Bus transfer back to YVR. Had a great time, but 2 weeks was enough skiing for me !

Whistler - Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 January 2019

Australia Day today. There are so many Australians here it's extraordinary. 9% of the people you meet in a chairlift or working in a bar are Australian. Rare to meet a Canadian !

It's Saturday so Alex and I are having a rest day and are going ziplining !

We were picked up at the Fairmont and taken about 20 minutes up the mountain to where we did snow mobiling last week. It was only the 2 of us on the tour and we did 4 ziplines.

For the first one, we couldn't even see the other end !

There's a short walk between each one. We had 2 guides...

The second one was short and steep...

That afternoon wandered around Whistler Village.

One night, there was so much snow, the bus wouldn't take us up the hill. So we had to walk :-(
