Athens - Tuesday 23 October 2018

Last breakfast in Mykonos and then quick transfer to the airport. Short flight to Athens (30 minutes) and then 30 minute taxi. Set fare EUR38.

Checked in to Acropolis Select Hotel which Jacqui had stayed at earlier in the year. Great location.

Then went for a walk. This is Hadrian's Gate, close by the hotel...

Went and checked out the Acropolis Museum (EUR5) which was very impressive. Then back to hotel and got changed and had a drink at the rooftop bar in the hotel. This is the view...

Still in the bar as night falls...

Then walked to dinner. First impressions are that Athens is a rundown Rome, without the wow factor. But I'm enjoying the energy of a big city.

Mykonos and Delos - Monday 22 October 2018

After breakfast, caught the bus into town and walked to the Port. Bought a ticket for the ferry to Delos, about 30 minute ride away. It's a significant historical island with many ruins dating back to 600 B.C.

EUR20 for the ferry, and EUR12 to get into the site.

Walked around and visited the museum. It was okay. I am looking forward to a bit more history in Athens later this week.

Walked up the summit of a big hill...

And back down...

Amphitheatre...

Ferry back to Mykonos and had lunch at a nice Italian place I had walked past many times. Great food and service...

Caught the bus back to hotel and then went for another walk around the coast to Paradise Beach.

Then bus back into town for the last time. This is Little Venice...

Went to Rhapsody for a couple of beers and sat on a small terrace. This was the view...

Mykonos - Sunday 21 October 2018

Had breakfast and caught the bus into town. Walked up the hill a bit to get a different view...

Found a more local bakery. Amazing selection.

Then caught a bus to Elia Beach. More sheltered here and hardly anyone around...

One beach over...

Nice looking houses on a very steep cliff...

Back in Mykonos Town...

Had dinner at the restaurant in my hotel. Right one the beach. I also have breakfast here each morning.

Then crashed. Need to catch up on some sleep !

Mykonos - Saturday 20 October 2018

Got up, had a good breakfast and went for a walk around the coastline. This is looking back to Platis Gialis which is where I am staying...

Paraga Beach...

Love the architecture...

Then sat by the hotel pool for a while. Too cold to swim...

Caught the bus back into town. Windmills at The Port...

Looking down into Little Venice...

Had lunch and a Greek beer at Niko's Taverna...

Nice streets like Parikia, but it feels a bit more touristy...

Went up the hill a bit for this view...

Mykonos Port...

Had dinner at this bar - Notorius. Nobody else here...

The last bus was midnight but when I got to the bus stop, realised it had changed today to 11pm ! Everything is closing down rapidly. So I had to get a taxi back - EUR15. Grrr...

Paros to Mykonos - Friday 19 October 2018

Had breakfast in the hotel. Morning view from my hotel...

Checked out and drove to Lefkes, a village in the mountains. Only 15 minute drive.

Walked around and had a coffee. Quite enjoyed driving the VW Up. Only 1 litre...

Wandered around the town...

Byzantine Route...

Had a coffee here and did some emails...

Drove back to Parikia and dropped off the car. Walked around town and had another coffee and did some work.

Caught the 1430 ferry to Mykonos - easy 1.5 hour trip...

The room rate at the hotel included transfers. Found the bus and a quick trip to Petinos Hotel on Platis Gialos Beach. Couldn't quite see the sea but it's just behind that tree...

This is the adjoining beach...

Caught the bus into town. Just getting dark. It's pretty quiet being the end of season. This is Little Venice...

Ordered the pork loin and of course it came with chips...
