Capri, Italy - Sunday 25 June 2023

 Got up and walked to the port and caught a ferry to Capri. Another bucket list thing for me.

Arrived at Capri. Another gorgeous day.

We have splurged a bit today and hired a private boat. We found our captain and caught a golf kart to our boat.

Looking back to Capri...

We did a circuit of the island...

Got close to a few caves...

We sailed through here...

The famous blue grotto was closed, so we stopped and had a swim here...

It was busy...

Heading back to port...

Caught the ferry back to Naples and had our daily siesta. Then headed to dinner. We are really enjoying the food here.

Naples - Saturday 24 June

 Arrived back at the apartment and had a siesta. That night headed out for a drink on the way to a rooftop bar I wanted to try.

Found the bar. It is called Vesuvio Roof Bar...

Then headed to dinner.

Pompei - Saturday 24 June

I have always wanted to go to Pompei. We walked to the main street of Naples, and joined a tour. About 30 minute drive to Pompei. It's hot and there are many people here.

House of Menander who was a rich guy...

Most of the people who died, were slaves who had been left behind. Seems the wealthy had time to escape.

It's hot and quite hard work walking on the cobbled streets. Headed back to the bus and back to Naples.

Naples, Italy - Friday 23 June 2023

Got up and walked to the port, as we wanted to see where we will catch the ferry from tomorrow. Then walked aimlessly to see some sights. It's hot.  

This interesting looking castle was right near the port. Castel Nuovo first erected in 1279...

It's a bit hazy today.

Piazza del Plebiscito was nearby...

Stopped here for a coffee and water...

Walking through the streets...

We walked up the hill and did a tour of the Aqua Augusta, the Roman aqueducts. It was great.

The pregnant lady on the tour declined to go through this section...

These streamers were everywhere, as Napoli had recenty won the Italian cup (or something)...

After the aqueduct tour, we kept walking through the old town.

Galleria Umberto, just a shoppng centre...

We are pretty tired and hot now. Found a restaurant and stopped for lunch.

Headed back to the apartment for a rest.

That night we headed to a gelato place that Alex had researched.

Palermo, Sicily - Thursday 22 June

Did the usual breakfast on the terrace then went for a walk in a different direction. This is Parrochia Basilica Minore di S. Francesco d' Assisi...

Had lunch in the town centre...

Picked up the bags and caught a taxi to the airport. Goodbye Sicily...

Arrived at Naples after an easy flight on Easy Jet. Waited there for about an hour for Alex, who flew in from Berlin. Caught an Uber to our apartment in central Naples. It was called Apartment Centro Storico in the heart of the old city.

Went for a walk and had some dinner.
