Hong Kong quarantine - January 2021

Landed back in Hong Kong a little bit ahead of schedule at 21:30. I was first off the plane and headed into the process that I was expecting. Walked through the many checkpoints in the airport. Being HK there was a lot of paperwork (!), a COVID test and then a wait of about 3 hours for the results of the test.

We were finally released and then headed to where the buses to the hotels leave from, and then had another lengthy wait. Finally made it to the Kerry Hotel at about 4am. Long day.

This is a photo I took of the hotel after I got out...

I had chosen this hotel for the room size and food quality. It is a Shangri-la hotel, so I was hoping the food would be good. I hadn't enjoyed the food in Sydney ! I had booked a city view room to keep the price down, but was upgraded to a sea view room which I'm so pleased about. Makes a big difference.

I had a corner room so almost 180 degree view, from Kai Tak to IFC...

I bought a treadmill online and it was delivered within 2 days. My plan was to sell it or rent it at the end of my quarantine and I easily found someone to rent for me so was able to recoup $2,000 of my $2,700 spend easily. I think I'll keep it for next quarantine !

I ended up walking 10km per day for the rest of my stay.

I was lucky enough to have a bath so part of my daily routine was a Gin & Tonic in the bath...

I had bought some wine and gin duty free and some snacks from Sydney so I was well set up. I did this as I wasn't sure what the hotel would allow in terms of deliveries. But in fact it was easy to get anything delivered, including a care package from work.

I am so grateful for this view...

I bought some candles with me for ambience. It's the little things...

Each morning with breakfast we received a menu for the day. This is Saturday night's which is a bit more special than usual...

The food is great, but comes in plastic takeaway containers so I sometimes plated it...

Sunrise...

Evening drinks...

Love the traditional junks on the harbour...

I really enjoyed doing a couple of jigsaws. Pity about the missing piece. I can only think that I accidentally threw it out in the plastic bag it came in. Grrr...

Breakfast varies. Fruit and yoghurt each day and something more substantial. I love dim sum day...

Loving this candle. Sick of breathing processed air...

This is the hotel from the Hung Hom Promenade. My room is the corner one second top floor that is dimly lit. I had a candle burning in the window that night...

Had to go to Melbourne for work. Flew on the Monday morning and straight to the office. After work I checked in to Voco and crossed Lonsdale...
