Sydney - March/April 2025

Went to see MJ The Musical one night. I didn't think it was good as Thriller, the musical we saw in London in 2017 but was still a good show.

We had a work conference at Coogee for one night. I was given a great room overlooking the ocean...

After dinner we ended up here for a drink. I used to spend many Saturday nights here in the early 80's as they used to have great live music...

The next morning we did part of the Bondi to Coogee walk. It was a beautiful morning as the sun came up and there were fit beautiful people exercising all along the beachfront...

One night we went to Monique and Graham's place in Balmain for dinner. This is my current Zara favourite shirt, although it's an old one...

Carol turned 80 so we went for a nice lunch out in the Western suburbs. This is her with her kids Jackie and John...

We had some friends over for lunch at Easter. They brought dessert...

And then the rain came. The grass and bike path outside our back fence has become a pond...

One night we went to see Tina Arena at the State Theatre. Before the show we went to Esteban for dinner. I have been here before and really like it. We sat at the bar...

Was great seeing Tina who I used to like 30 years ago... 

Singapore - April 2025

Did some emails in the hotel then Uber to the airport for my flight to Singapore. Had some lunch then boarded. Easy 5 hour flight from Perth and I slept for a couple of hours.

Staying at QT Singpore for the first time which is well located across the road from Lau Pa Sat. I booked this hotel for the pool but unfortunately it was closed for renovation. The room they gave me looked onto a brick wall so after one night, they moved me to the top floor which at least had some natural light.

I had a complementary drink voucher so had a nice cocktail at the hotel bar. It was called the Devil Wears Prada..

Had dinner in the hotel restaurant one night. This is the bread with vegemite butter...

Saturday morning I walked close by to Teloy Ayer and had a nice breakfast at Plain Vanilla where I had been before. I went for a walk and dropped off laundry. That night I caught a Grab to my mate Ian's place on the East Coast. We sat on the balcony and had some wine...

Sunday morning I had breakfast in Telok Ayer which is close to my hotel. This restaurant is called Sarnies...

I went to Lau Pa Sat most days for lunch. This is an oyster omelette and kopi...

It rained heavily on Sunday so I was stuck in the hotel. As soon as it stopped I went for a walk along the harbour to Boat Quay

I worked in the office from Monday to Thursday. Then as I wasn't flying out until the night of Good Friday, my colleague and I caught a ferry from Marina South Pier to Lazarues Island and then walked over the causeway to St John Island and walked around. Then caught the ferry back.

We went to Lau Pa Sat for beer and food...

As the pool at QT was closed, we were able to use the pool at the Westin. 

We then caught a Grab to the aiport and had dinner in the First Class Lounge which is really nice.

Boarded and had a relatively quick (under 7 hours) flight back to Sydney. 

We landed early on Easter Saturday and as all the gates were full they had to bus us off. In spite on that I will through quite quickly and caught a Uber home, then headed up to Berkeley Vale as we are having people over for lunch.

Perth - April 2025

Did my half-yearly trip to Perth for work. Flew late on Tuesday and used my points to upgrade to business class. I'm travelling with my colleague, Dylan.

I'm staying at the QT this time for the first time. It's nice and a good location between the office and Northbridge. On Wednesday we had breakfast in the hotel then headed to the office.

Thurday night I met an old friend for drinks at Pavillion and then we had dinner at Long Chim...

Next morning I did some work in the hotel and then headed to the aiport for my flight to Singapore. It's all the same terminal but annoyingly you have to clear security in the Domestic section then walk a bit and clear security again in the International section.

We even had wifi for the part where we were over Australia...

I slept a bit and then landed in Singapore late afternoon.
