Hong Kong - May 2018

Went to my first wedding in HK. Held at the Langham TST. Over 300 people. Great night.

Went to Shekou in Shenzhen one Sunday. Much easier now I have my China visa. Ferry leaves from the Macau Ferry terminal...

Public Holiday for Buddha's Birthday. Went to South Bay. Very hot...

This was a beautiful night to walk up The Peak with Eliza...

Shanghai - May 2018

Back again. Flew in Sunday afternoon. Business Class this time.

Leaving HK...

Caught the Maglev and then the local subway. Maglev only got to 300 km/h on the way in, but I know it does 430 km/h normally. It's because of the noise it makes, so in peak times its speed is limited.

I really wanted to work out the subway this time as I find taxis a bit scary and can get stuck in traffic. It was easy but I had to change trains once to get to Xintiandi...

I got a gift at the Langham this time. Pens and promotional postcards. Mmmm...

Unpacked, had a swim and went to dinner in Xintiandi. Lamb shank was okay..

Next morning I walked to work as usual. Dancing in the park. Cute...

Found a new place for breakfast opposite work. Chinese version of avo smash, Not bad...

I can see this building from the office, so I went to take a closer look...

Escaped the office in the afternoon and caught the subway to the French Concession. I was looking for a coffee place I had been to before called Uncle No Name. I found it but it was a different one. Was basically West Nanjing Road which I wanted to see anyway...

Terrace Bar at the Langham called XTD. It's never busy for some reason but is actually a nice space...

Lost Heaven in the French Concession. Food was great and my Hongkonger colleague over-ordered. I actually prefer the one on The Bund.

Next day I was in a Didi (Uber) on the main drag of Pudong. The driver stops and gets out at traffic lights, leaving the engine running and goes to the toilet in the greenery...

Went to hotpot at this place near the Bund...

Nice food but we they didn't accept our credit cards and we didn't have enough RMB cash. Fortunately we were able to pay in HKD !

On the way to the airport I caught maglev. It did 430 km/h this time. Total time about 6 minutes...
