Hong Kong - July 2016

Still enjoying living here. It is summer now and we have had some hot days, and some mild ones.

Weekdays are spent working and gym and Cantonese class. Occasionally I will go to trivia.

Weekends I go to Cantonese, have coffee, go to the beach, and sometimes sit in a bar and update my blog ! I have done a bit of shopping and even been to the movies. Ghostbusters was fun.

I've now booked flights home for August, September and October, and December. Also booked a weekend in Bangkok in September.

I haven't got tired of exploring and trying new cafes and restaurants.

I enjoy cooking and even shopping for food at the markets on the weekend. Either close to where I live, or sometimes at Wan Chai.

Shrimp and fried rice...

Aussie beef and snow peas...

I was excited so see blue sky on my way to work...

Trying new things from a nice bakery in Sheung Wan...I think they were called horse hoofs, or milk something...quite nice...

My Head Office work address...cool...

South Bay Beach...my favourite beach...

My boss took me to (arguably) the best steak restaurant in Hong Kong...I'm glad I wasn't paying as it was A$400 per head...and we only had 2 bottles of wine between 4 ! The beef was Australian and lovingly raised, apparently...

Cool rooftop bar near where I live...above Stauntons...

Good coffee and great wifi password...

I went to the Hong Kong book fair, and met my childhood idol, Wilbur Smith.

The book fair was massive...apparently book sales are on the increase again...

My ticket...less than A$5 was a bargain...

Sydney - July 2016

I went home for Callum's 12th birthday which I missed thanks to Qantas. It was 6 weeks between trips which was the longest I've ever been away from the family.

Qantas Club specialty, and my favourite...ca siu faan..
.

Qantas Club...nice but I won't renew as they don't let you use it unless flying Qantas, and Qantas don't fly in Asia...

After a long wait in the club and no announcements, we were told the flight had been delayed until tomorrow. So about 11pm we had to leave the club go through immigration and get taken back to the Park Lane Hotel in Causeway Bay. Why there wasn't a hotel near the airport I don't know !

Funnily enough, this was the hotel we stayed in on our very first trip to Hong Kong in 1997...view is over Victoria Park and Victoria Harbour...

Teppanyaki for Callum's birthday...

Melbourne - June 2024

Had to go to Melbourne for work. Flew on the Monday morning and straight to the office. After work I checked in to Voco and crossed Lonsdal...
